About This Content

This book has been written to meet the requirements of the Primary School English language syllabus issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture. This book is different from those you have used before because it has been specifically designed for comprehension exercises. In order to meet this challenge a variety of visuals, passages which are varied in vocabulary, content, in subject matter, in thought, value and style have been used. It has been designed to test the pupil’s ability to understand a passage of English. They are sufficiently substantial and interesting to stand on their own and provide opportunities for clear thinking. There are twenty nine chapters in this book. At the end of every chapter there are exercises. The teacher should encourage his or her pupils to discuss given exercises in pairs orally before answering in their exercise books. This book is especially helpful to Standards Three, Four and Five and especially Standard Four pupils who are preparing themselves for the final English Examination. It is also useful to all those who wish to upgrade their English.
